Sustain-A-Palooza is an annual event that has been held at Santa Ana College for the past 5 years. It is a student led
event (mentored by faculty, staff and admin reps) where students celebrate sustainability and Earth Week. Past events
have featured keynote speakers such as Mayor Pulido (City of Santa Ana), Dr. Jeff Armstrong (Environmental Supervisor
at OCSD), and Captain Charlie Moore (Algalita Foundation). We also featured presentations from Tesla, OCTA, AQMD,
Chevrolet, City of Santa Ana, and Orange County Sanitation District.

Food Justice Symposium

For this Earth Day, the Fullerton College Geography Department is joining forces with people of expertise in a
Food Justice Symposium. It is a day dedicated to shed light onto the obscurities of our food system that continues
to annihilate our precious resources while depriving the most needy. This year, the Symposium is thrilled to host
Dr. Pascale Joassart-Marcelli, Professor of Geography and Director of the Urban Studies Program at San Diego
State University as their keynote speaker. She teaches Geography of Food, Food Justice and Geography of Cities,
among other courses. She earned a PhD in Political Economy and Public Policy form the University of Southern
California. Her research focuses on urban poverty, immigration, informal labor, and community responses. It will
be a day to unite in a common vision to inspire positive change in our world.

Showcase which honors projects and innovative approaches to managing natural resources.

as well as interactive Q & A sessions. In addition, major announcements will be delivered by groups working
on innovative solutions, new scientific research, and environmental campaigns that will take center stage in 2018.
The purpose of the summit is to raise awareness about the present state of our ocean and help the ocean conservation
community unite on issues and solutions by bringing together leaders, thinkers and innovators for rapid solutions.
